How Long Does It Take?
Typical timing: 30-60 days.
TGL Recruiter tip: Processing estimates change with fingerprint delays, missing documents, and application volume. Confirm the current timeline with the Board before promising a start date — and always start early.
Step-by-Step Licensing Process
✓ Arkansas is an eNLC compact state. Nurses holding a multistate license from a compact primary state may practice in Arkansas without obtaining a separate license.
Permanent License — Endorsement
- Apply online through the Arkansas State Board of Nursing website and pay the $100 fee.
- Request license verification via Nursys. Arkansas participates in Nursys for endorsement verification.
- Complete a background check with fingerprints — Arkansas uses the Fieldprint system for in-state submissions and hard-card for out-of-state applicants.
- Submit documentation of any prior disciplinary action or criminal history if applicable.
- Allow 30–60 days for processing after all required items are received.
Temporary License
- Arkansas offers a temporary permit valid for 120 days while your endorsement application is pending.
- Request the temporary permit at the time of your permanent application — there is no separate form.
- You may work under the temporary permit until your permanent license is issued.
TGL Recruiter tip: Start the licensing process as early as possible — especially for non-compact states, which can take 8–12 weeks. Your TGL recruiter will track your application status and help you time your assignment start date.
Fees
The endorsement application fee is $100. Temporary permit is included in the application fee. Biennial renewal is $100. Background check fees are separate and vary by submission method.
Fees change. Always verify current amounts at the official Arkansas Board of Nursing website before applying.
License Renewal
Arkansas RN licenses renew biennially. Renewal requires 15 hours of continuing education per renewal period. Renewal fee is $100.
Important Notes for Travel Nurses
- Arkansas is a compact (eNLC) state — nurses with a multistate license from a compact home state may practice without endorsement.
- Ensure your mailing address on file with the Board is current — renewal notices are sent by mail.
- APRN licenses have different requirements; confirm specifics with the Board if applicable.
